Summers are for Day Dates & Snack Breaks: How we do Married Life with a new baby

I'm dedicated to keep our marriage alive after kids. It's not always easy to focus on yourself because we always put our kids first. Today, I'm talking about my favorite summer activities as a married couple with a brand new baby. This post was sponsored by Nabisco as part of an Influencer Activation for Influence Central and all opinions expressed in my post are my own.Married Life with a new baby

My husband and I are spending our fifth summer together this year. His sense of adventure was one major thing that made me fall in love with him. For our first date, he asked me to fly to NYC with him. I countered the offer with a trip to a magical amusement park in Orlando. That trip was followed music festivals, concerts, food tours, waterparks, and so much more! My summers were never as eventful as they were after he came into my life. Now, our lives are full of a different kind of adventure: parenthood.Married Life and a new baby

This is our first summer as parents. We have an almost 5-month-old who is truly our greatest adventure. Being parents means we have to be a little bit more creative with our moments together. Before we were parents, we were husband and wife. We were two young people in love. In an effort to keep that spark alive, we're dedicating our summer to day dates and snack breaks.

Never underestimate the value of a snack break.

Food has always brought my husband and I together. I'm not afraid to admit that we've traveled hours for a good meal. It's kind of our thing. Now that we have a baby, long trips aren't really an option. So, we do our best to take advantage of what we have around us – like snacks.

On one of our romantic day dates to Walmart (joking. We were buying groceries), I thought it would be fun to pick up a few of our favorite sweet treats from NABISCO to plan a real day date at home with my husband. Sometimes all you need is a good movie, comfy couch, and a fun setup to turn an average day around.NABISCO sweeps

I took a stroll down the candy aisle for some Swedish Fish and found the NILLA Wafers & Family Size Honey Maid Grahams in the cookie & cracker aisle at Walmart. I also found a lot of NABISCO snacks on display in the aisles, so you can grab everything you want & go.

While my husband was napping, I put together a little snack plate for us. I stuffed hazelnut spread between the NILLA Wafers because who can resist turning NILLA wafers into an extra delicious treat? We definitely can't. As for the Swedish Fish and Honey Maid Grahams, we prefer those completely as is. So, I threw it all together on my favorite dishes and even prepped my letter board to make the setup standout more for my husband when he woke up.

Day Date complete.

We moved our snacks to the couch, put on a good movie, cuddled under the blanket together and enjoyed our day date as much as we could… for 45 minutes before our baby boy woke up from his nap. We'll take it.
