How Sam Smith Owned The Grammys and a Quick Recap

#MusicMondays

Yesterday was the BIG night! It was the 57th Grammys. It was filled with lots of laughter, excitement, and a ton of great performances! A LOT happened, but all you need to know is here.

The Grammys opened with AC/DC! I was so excited to see them especially after they didn't show up at the Super Bowl. It is my first time every seeing them perform. They sure can rock the stage!

Ariana Grande's performance surprised us all. She sung a beautiful song titled “Just a Little Bit of Your Heart”. This was a nice side to Ariana Grande that we aren't used to seeing. We are used to the feisty girl with the powerful voice. I can't help but to say, I am not a huge fan of hers. Her voice is nice, but it just doesn't touch me like it does other. Also, I cannot understand what she's saying when she sings half of the time.

Sam Smith won Best New Artist. I was wanting Iggy Azalea to win, but Sam Smith really deserved it. After hearing so many other BIG artists (like Mary J. Blige) comment on his incredible talent before the Grammys, I realize that he is a very respected singer in the industry. His thank you speech was spoken while holding back tears. Congrats to him!

Pharrell won Best Pop Solo Performance! He completed deserved it for his Happy performance!! He seemed shocked, appreciative, and awkward in his speech.

Miranda Lambert ROCKED the stage. Miranda Lambert looked like a bombshell in all black when she stepped onto the stage. She may be a Country artist, but she really rocked the stage while performing Little Red Wagon! Her performance was one of the best of the night!

Sam Smith also won Best Pop Vocal Album! Wow!! Congrats to him on another win! He is really deserving. He should be very proud! He beat out some of the biggest artists around: Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry, Ed Sheeran, Coldplay, and Ariana Grande!

Kanye West performed for the 1st time in 6 years… and he didnt go crazy or rant for an hour! However, before his performance he did make a comment about “The Grammys voting system being flawed.”

Madonna performed and it was beautiful. She was in a sexy red and black costume with men dancing all around her. Oh and the men had devil/demon horns. It was interesting, but I loved it.

Beck won Best Rock Album. Wahh. I wanted Tom Petty to win that one! Props to him though!

Beyonce took home the Best R&B Performance! for Crazy In love- Much deserved!

Ed Sheeran performed and I fangirled. That is all.

Adam Levine and Gwen Stefani performed together. They sure would make a hott couple. Their voices are incredible together. The were dressed to impress! You typically find these two looking a little edgy, but tonight they dressed in their very best which fit well with their live mini orchestra in the background.

Hozier Performed “Take Me To Church” and “I Put a Spell on You” with Annie Lenox. Wow. I'd love to see Hozier live. This was an incredible performance. Annie Lenox, her voice is one of a kind.

Pharrell performed Happy in a UNIQUE way. With a choir and in a weird bell-hop uniform. haha.

#ItsOnUs speech from Obama. Speaking on domestic violence and how we need to fight against it!

Katy Perry performs a gripping song about domestic violence. She looked stunning in an all white gown. Her performance had me in tears. This is a beautiful song <3 She got a standing ovation!

Tony Bennet and Lady Gaga performed “Cheek to Cheek” Together and damn was that performance incredible. You can REALLY get a grip on Gaga's talent in this performance. This may be the performance of the night… just sayin. They even did a little dance together.

Usher sings Stevie Wonder's “Magic” and Stevie Wonder surprises everyone by joining in!  It was just Usher and a harp, when all of a sudden towards the very end Stevie Wonder walks out with a harmonica to help Usher finish off the song!

Rihanna, Kanye, and Paul McCartney Perform together and it was an incredible collaboration. It was so funny seeing Paul McCartney up there with them. Rihanna looked like she was all about business! I still think this is an odd song.

Sam Smith and Mary J. Blige perform Stay With Me together. Goosebumps. The entire time.

Beck took home Album of The Year with his Morning Phase album. Well, I didn't see that coming. Kanye went to the stage as if he was going to say “BEYONCE SHOULD HAVE WON IT!”

Sam Smith won Song of the Year!!

Stevie Wonder and Jamie Foxx announce Record of The Year & Jamie Foxx pretends to be Ray Charles. Epic Moment.

Sam Smith Won Record of the Year!! He owned the Grammys.

Eminem won Best Rap Album!  I am so excited that my favorite artist and inspiration Eminem and his Marshall Mathers LP2 album won the Best Rap Album! Eminem was a different man in this album, but he was still the same lyricist as he's always been. This is his first sober album and it definitely deserved the win! I am so happy for him!
